NETS-T Standard 1: Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity

Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning, and technology to facilitate experiences that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual environments. Teachers:

A. promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness.

This PowerPoint was created to model creative and innovative thinking for the students. Students all have existing knowledge of what schools look like and how they function. This PowerPoint would be used during a lesson in which students would design their own school and determine how it would be run. The students would have to critically think about what they would need to effectively teach their students and be able to explain how their school would facilitate student learning.

B. engage students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources.

This video was created to show students that it is okay to fail and to teach them that when they fail they need to try again rather than give up. This video would be used to teach the students about perseverance. This blooper video shows professional athletes making mistakes, which will show the students that even the best fail sometimes, but when they do make mistakes, they do not give up. They keep trying until they succeed.

C. promote student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students' conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative processes.

This website was developed to be a resource for students to utilize outside of the classroom. This site allows students to practice concepts that they are learning in class and reflect on what they need to do to become stronger in their areas of weakness. This site also allows students to collaborate with other students in order to better understand class materials.

D. model collaborative knowledge construction by engaging in learning with students, colleagues, and others in face-to-face and virtual environments.

This video project was created with a colleague and is meant to encourage students to further their education and attend college in the future. This video would be shown to students during a discussion about college. The video would lead the class into a discussion in with they would formulate a plan with the teacher on what steps they need to take in order to be able to go to college.
